… Unexpected and unprovoked disaster of apocalyptic magnitude shook the gate of EVE, completely destroying them, and together with them and the system of “New Eden” (New Eden). Thousands of tiny colonies were left in complete isolation, separated from the Old World and abandoned to their fate. For millennia they lived on the brink of extinction, and only very few were able to survive the isolation and absolute survival.

Five of these colonies have developed, and become a powerful empire that contain the EVE universe in a fragile equilibrium. Today they are known as the Amarr Empire (Amarr Empire), Gallente Federation (Gallente Federation), State Calder (Caldari State), Minmatar Republic (Minmatar Republic) and the Empire JOVIAL (Jovian Empire), plus a small number of small independent factions and states.

For many centuries, the five empires have coexisted in relative peace. They struggled to maintain this peace, because they are too well aware of how serious the consequences would be massive interstellar war. Technological breakthroughs in jumping through hyper-space and the subsequent growth of space travel seriously shaken, but not destroyed the fragile peace and balance … at least, not yet destroyed …
